The Great Emu War

02/11/1932 — 10/12/1932

In honour of most memorable mishaps, this batch is named after a 1932 Australian military campaign against a pesky population of emus. Despite the 10,000 bullets, the emus ultimately won.

Burke & Wills No. 1 The Great Emu War

The very first Burke & Wills release is from Tin Shed Distillery (Iniquity). Matured in a 100L first-fill port cask which was distilled on 7 Dec 2017 and was bottled on 7 Oct 2022 at 57.9% ABV.

At nearly 5 years old, it's both intense and elegant, with a bold hit of toffee, butter menthol, rich, dried fruit & spice.

Harold Holt

05/08/1908 — 17/12/1967

The year was 1967, and Prime Minister Harold Holt decided to go for a swim at Cheviot Beach. As one does when they're the leader of a nation, right? Well, he never came back. Vanished without a trace. So what does the Australian public do. We named a pool after him.

Harry Shot Horrocks

22/03/1818 — 23/09/1846

In 1846, explorer John Horrocks, was shot accidently when his grumpy camel, Harry, jostled his firearm, causing it to discharge. Horrocks succumbed to his injuries marking the only known instance of a camel unintentionally taking out its rider.

Burke & Wills No. 3 Harry Shot Horrocks

Our third release and our first Riverbourne, made from the rare Golden Promise barley (a flavoursome grain popular in the 1960s Scotland but discontinued due to low yields and advances in other varieties being grown).  It was aged in a 100L ex-Bourbon American Oak cask for nearly 6 years (whisky is ready when it's ready) and was bottled at 55.9% ABV in 700ml bottles.
